In 1991 OBERMEYER was assigned to design a second passenger terminal for the expanding Leipzig–Halle Airport. Terminal 2 has a capacity of 3.5 million passengers per year, including the functions arrival, departure, luggage handling and areas for communication and conferences. Significant for this terminal is the distinguished design concept, optimal functionality, ideal orientation, short ways, 6 passenger bridges, large-scale steel constructions and voluminous spaces. Three years after construction the client confirmed the optimal functionality and the high cost-effectiveness of the terminal.
