The Nongfu Spring Guangxi Hengzhou Jasmine Tea Factory Nears Completion!
Hengzhou in Guangxi, known as the Hometown of Jasmine in China and the World Jasmine Capital, has a jasmine planting history of over 400 years. Its jasmine output accounts for more than 80% of China’s total and over 60% of the global total, making it a core hub for the jasmine tea industry. As a key project for the upgrading of jasmine industry, the Tea Factory is approaching completion. This modern industrial complex integrating intelligent manufacturing and industrial tourism will inject new impetus into the development of Hengzhou’s entire jasmine tea industry chain.
The project is located beside County Road X470 in Hengzhou and covers an area of 59,637 m², with a total construction area of 138,000 m². The industrial complex has multiple functions, including the material production and processing, warehousing and logistics, office support facilities and tourist reception. Since July 2024, Obermeyer, the project's architectural design firm, has been deeply involved in the entire process of the factory’s design and provided professional consulting services for the construction phase. By adhering to international design concepts and local implementation considerations, an industrial park has been created to meet the development needs of the food and beverage industry.
OBERMEYER’s design is guided by the core concept of "compact efficiency and natural harmony", integrating the factory buildings seamlessly with the jasmine fields in Hengzhou. The architectural style is simple and solemn. The facades are mainly made of aluminum panels and glass curtain walls, which emphasize the horizontal extension. The light green colour scheme blends perfectly with the surrounding natural environment. The auxiliary buildings have the same design elements and colour scheme as the main factory buildings, creating a high level of visual unity throughout the park.
In terms of spatial layout, the project makes the most of the available land. The two three-story main factory buildings to the north and south are connected by an aerial corridor. Patios have been designed to improve the indoor lighting. The flow of cargo is concentrated on the west side, while the flow of tourists is concentrated on the east side. Auxiliary rooms and equipment are centered on the north side, optimizing both production efficiency and space utilization.
The project is endowed with both practicality and a pleasant experience thanks to its thoughtful, detailed designs. The main street-facing facade features wavy vertical aluminum grilles combined with colored sandwich steel plates, echoing the natural landscape of the surrounding jasmine gardens. The first floor of the buildings uses colored spliced sandwich steel plates except for the unloading area, creating a visual effect of the buildings “floating on a sea of jasmine flowers”. The main entrance serves both office staff and tourists, with a red steel structure tourist staircase leading directly to the viewing platform on the third floor, offering excellent experience for industrial tourism. Glass curtain walls at the main entrance, aerial corridor and fire stairs break the tedious visual sense of the long facades and make the buildings appear lightweight.
As a modern industrial complex that integrates intelligent manufacturing and industrial tourism, the project is equipped with comprehensive supporting facilities, including production workshops, a sewage treatment station, and a tourist reception center. These facilities enable the entire jasmine tea production process to be operated fully intelligently. The factory is currently in the final stage of completion and is expected to officially begin production in the first half of 2026. Upon completion, it will become one of the leading modern jasmine tea production demonstration factories in China. Not only will it provide core production support for Nongfu Spring’s jasmine tea products, but it will also drive the upgrading of Hengzhou’s jasmine industry, shifting the focus from raw material export to intensive processing. This will help to steadily increase the income of 340,000 local flower farmers and lay a solid foundation for the high-quality development of the jasmine industry in Hengzhou.
Once the factory is complete, OBERMEYER will present the project's design. Stay tuned!
