OBERMEYER WON GUANGZHOU EAST RAIL & TRANSPORT HUB PROJECT

OBERMEYER Consortium Won the Guangzhou East Rail & Transport Hub Urban Design project

Obermeyer together with Guangzhou Design Institute and Guangzhou Transport Planning Research Institute won the competition of Guangzhou East Rail & Transport Hub Urban Design project, aiming to build a world-class multimodal logistics hub centering on production and service industries.

Integrate German Expertise with Local Necessities

Due to the high density of industrial enterprises and activities, Germany has developed one of Europe's most highly specialized logistics network with well-developed transportation systems and advanced logistics service level that suits many kinds of industrial demands. Applying German expertise in transport and logistics to the location characteristics of the Great Bay Area, OBERMEYER optimizes the smart and eco-friendly logistics hub benchmark in fields of environment, functionality and facility.

Environment —— Respect current eco conditions to connect urban construction and surrounding nature by multi-level green corridors.

Functionality —— Capitalize on the transportation resources around Zengcheng West Station to create a comprehensive logistics city with a highly functional spatial structure.

Facility —— Create regional logistic service center and integrated service center to inter-connect by an industry linkage axis to boost interactive development.

Multimodal transport has drawn much attention in Germany to drive logistics development. German ports have the worldwide highest percentage of multimodal transportation, in which Bremerhaven and Hamburg are among the best practices of advance planning and pragmatic development. In terms of the challenges of climate change and sustainable development, multimodal transport contributes to energy saving, transport efficiency improvement and reduction of logistics cost.

Project Background

It is a national key project in the Planning of Facilities Interconnection in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Located in Zengcheng District, Guangzhou, the general area is around 913 hectares. Based on the road-rail intermodal transport, the project is to achieve multimodality connected to other existing transport hub in Guangzhou, shaping an integrated development of transport, logistics and industries.
